Following the decline of the Mauryan Empire, the Sunga Kingdom emerged as a significant power, continuing the legacy of its predecessor. During this period, coins were minted as a means of trade and representation of power, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of ancient India.

 

Description: This rare Mauryan Empire cast copper Kakani coin hails from the era of the Sunga Kingdom, spanning from 150 BC to 100 AD, making it over 2100 years old. The obverse side of the coin features an elephant facing left, accompanied by symbols such as the torion, swastika, and Indradvaja. On the reverse side, a depiction of a three-arched hill with a hollow cross, torion, and tree railing is prominent. Weighing approximately 2.20 grams and measuring 14.34 x 13.88mm, this coin is a remarkable artifact from ancient India, reflecting the artistic and metallurgical expertise of its time.
