  Ashtamangal :-

Ashtamangal are eight auspicious symbols that destroy
materialistic and spiritual obstacles, promote prosperity, and ultimately lead
to salvation. While the idea of such eight auspicious symbols features across
scriptures from various religion, the first mention of this phenomenon is found
in Jain scriptures. The names of these symbols are Swastik, Shrivatsa,
Nandavarta, Vardhamanaka, Bhadrasan, Poornakalash, Meenyugal, and Darpan.

Swastik

Four arms of the swastik signify four types of dharma
i.e., daan (charity), sheel (piety), tap (penance), and bhava (spirituality).
These dharmas liberate the soul from the four forms of life viz., dev
(celestial birth), manushya (human birth), tiryanch (animal birth), and narak
(hell birth), and help it achieve salvation.

Shrivatsa

Shrivatsa or ‘goddess Lakhmi’s son’ is a pious symbol
at the middle of the chest. It promotes happiness and prosperity.

Nandavarta

Nandavarta, a maze symbol with four arms, and nine
turns and corners. It helps to gain unlimited joy and fortune and eliminates
birth-death cycles.

Vardhamanaka

Vardhamanaka are two earthen dishes placed one over
another. It increases wealth, fame, power, and religiosity.

Bhadrasana

Bhadrasana is a grand seat. Revering it eliminates all
kinds of sorrow and helps to achieve the spiritual kingdom. 

Poornakalash

Poornakalash is a filled pot that fulfills
materialistic and spiritual aspirations. The symbol is also suggestive of the
idea that those who immerse in spirituality (the image of the pot is used to
refer to the soul in Jain scriptures) will attain salvation.

Meenyugal

Meenyugal is composed of two inseparable fish. It
symbolizes eternal attachment to Lord Jineshwara.

Darpan

Darpan, or mirror, destroys an individual’s pride by
showing reality. Similarly, the darpan symbol helps to view the true spiritual
nature of the self.

India Government Mint,
Mumbai (‘IGM Mumbai’), a unit of SPMCIL, is engaged in the manufacture of
circulation coins, commemorative coins, medals and medallions, and weights
& measures standards. In addition, the unit undertakes gold and silver
refining activity and is also equipped with an Assay laboratory. The IGM
Mumbai, established in 1829, is one of the oldest mint in India.

The unit offers
comprehensive range of services covering every stage of minting process – from
planning to finished products. Other products manufactured in the mint include
verification stamps, identification stamps, quarter stamps, and obliterating
stamps.

It is an ISO 9001:2008,
ISO 14001:2004 and NABL/ISO 17025:2005 certified unit. During FY 2016-17, IGM
Mumbai produced 2,201 million pieces of circulating coins.
